5 Ways to Reduce Your Risk of Cervical Cancer
May 18, 2018
This National Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, learn how to protect yourself against its threats. Here are some tips to reduce your risk of having cervical cancer:
Take care of your body
Take care of your body by exercising regularly and eating fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins and minerals that boost your immune system. It will save you not just from simple illnesses but also from critical ones. Carrots, beans, lettuce, wheat, and green tea are the top foods that help prevent cervical cancer.
Studies also show that being overweight increases the risk of cervical cancer. Might as well start practicing a balanced meal, eh?
Do not smoke or Quit smoking
When smoking, you are exposing yourself from cancer-causing chemicals which are bad not just for your lungs, but also to your other internal organs. According to Cancer.org, these harmful chemicals are absorbed through the lungs, then carried out in the bloodstream throughout the body.
Note: You should also avoid secondhand smoke, as it damages your organs even worse than what smoking does.
Get yourself checked
To know if the cells in your cervix are cancerous, you have to undergo a PAP test. Ask your doctor about it and the vaccines you need to prevent having cervical cancer. Prevention is always better than cure!
Make love safely
Research shows that most cases of cervical cancer are linked to an infection that can spread through unprotected sex. To prevent this from happening, use condoms to reduce the risk of infection. Also remember that limiting the number of your sexual partners is also a factor.
Get further protection
Protection for your health is not complete without security for your finances should you need medical assistance. Get an insurance plan that provides you
financial protection against critical illness. You’ll never know when an illness will get the best of your health, so it’s best to be protected.
