Are You Prepared for the Rainy Season?

June 2, 2017

It’s official, PAG-ASA has confirmed that rainy days have started!

Some may see this as a welcome break from the humid and extremely hot summer we just had, but for sure, most are also dreading the rains because unfortunately, in our country, rainy days also mean sickness, heavy traffic, and the worse--flood.

Be that as it may, rainy days have come and we just have to brace ourselves with what comes with it. Good thing we have listed down some tips on how to make this rainy season tolerable and at the same time, safe:

Stay dry

You might be annoyed carrying your heavy umbrella inside your classy handbag or awesome backpack while you’re on your way to your office or school, but remember this is essential for you to stay dry during the rainy season.

Nowadays, an umbrella is a must-have because the weather is always unpredictable no matter what season we are in. So might as well carry yours to protect you either from the damaging rays of the sun or from the rain which may cause illness.

Stay home on weekends

On those days when the weather is chill and relaxing, you might want to just stay home and enjoy a hot cup of coffee or chocolate while watching some television series or movies and wrap yourself in your favorite blanket.

Staying at home will save you money and will also keep you away from the viruses that you will probably get from crowded places. Besides, who would trade a warm and chill time at home over being stuck in traffic or having your feet soaked in the dirty rain waters?

Make sure your gadgets are charged

The chance of you being stuck in traffic during the rainy season is very high. Thus it is important that you keep your gadgets fully charged before you leave your house, office or school. Your power banks, mobile phones, and other gadgets will come in handy when you get stuck on the road for hours. Keeping your gadgets fully charged will also keep you updated of the traffic and flood situations in your area.

For those driving, make sure your vehicles are in good condition, the worse thing that could happen to you is having your car break down in the middle of the pouring rain.

Load up on vitamins

Flu, colds, and cough are very rampant during the rainy season and the best way to prevent this is by taking your daily dose of vitamin C and by eating lots of food loaded with it like fruits and vegetables.

You may not feel thirsty on a cold weather but you still need to drink lots of water. Water helps keep your body clean and hydrated. It also helps you from being congested by colds or cough, especially if the water is served hot.

Protect your health and your savings

Sometimes no matter how you try to prevent being ill, you still find yourself curled in bed with head and body throbbing or sometimes you even end up in the hospital--that is why it is important to have a health insurance that will help you protect your savings when these hospitalizations happen. You can do this by getting a health insurance that provides you cash assistance especially when you’re diagnosed with critical illness. You don’t even have to spend so much as there are insurance companies in the Philippines which offer affordable health insurance plans.

These are just some of the tips for you to be prepared during the rainy season. Always remember to put your health first in any circumstance so that your plans and dreams will not be hindered! Keep on doing you and stay dry!
