As parents, we only want the best
for our children. We want them to become
better individuals…talented, smart and successful, so we give everything to
them. A positive atmosphere plays a very
significant role in a child’s life. This
dictates the mood and behavior of a child.
Here are some tips on how you can create a positive atmosphere for your children at home.
1. Smile
It is good to
greet your child with a smile when he wakes up in the morning. Have you tried smiling at someone you don’t
know and he/she smiles back at you? It is because “smile” is contagious. So,
imagine your child carrying that smile the whole day wherever he goes, he can
even brighten someone else’s day.
Talk, as often
as possible, about anything. You may share your childhood experiences with them
or ask them to share some stories as well.
Don’t forget to ask how their day went. How they feel, school, friends, etc. Having an open communication is a good start of a healthy parent-child relationship. Practice this as early as possible.
Make your
children comfortable when they are with you.
They shouldn’t be feeling restrained or afraid in front of you, but of
course there are limitations depending on the situation. You may discuss these when it is not “fun
time”.
4. Support and Encourage
Always, always,
always give a positive criticism to your child.
Hearing those encouraging words from their parents mean a lot. It gives them confidence and courage to do
and achieve more.
Support them on
any of their ambitions or passion. This
inspires them to do better.
5. Be
a good example
Before we teach
any positivity to our children, check ourselves first. Are we (parents) setting a good example? They should be hearing and seeing positive
words and actions from us. If not, it contradicts all that were mentioned
above.
6. Plan
Planning is a
good thing to teach someone, especially our children. It may start from simple things like what to
wear, what to eat, where to go. As they
grow, they learn to be organized and be prepared for their future.
As parents, aside from giving our children’s basic needs, it is our pride to send them to good universities and see them finish their studies. Start planning early by getting a Dream College Plan. Dream College Plan provides our children with adequate cash assistance which they can use for their tuition, books, or even daily allowance. The College Cash Benefits guarantees that your child receives cash benefits twice a year from the age of 17 until the age of 20.
