How to Be an Awesome Driver

April 21, 2017

The number of deaths due to road accidents is getting higher day by day. This coming May, in observance of the Land Transportation Safety Month, be reminded on how to keep yourselves safe while on the road:

1. Follow traffic rules

It is the most basic rule for safe driving. Use your signal lights when turning or changing lanes and always follow traffic lights and signs. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid distractions while on the road. See and be seen, an awesome drive practices good defensive driving skills. Come on, dude, we can’t stress this enough!

2. Always wear seatbelt or helmet

You might think that fastening your seatbelt will not do any change should the unfortunate happens, but a seatbelt have saved many lives, and that’s not just a hearsay! Same goes for driving motorcycles, you should always wear your helmet and proper gears to keep you safe. Motorcycle accidents have been headlining the news continuously nowadays; and as a responsible driver, it is your duty to drive safely while going through heavy traffic.

3. Never ever drink and drive

If you know that you are going to drive right after drinking, limit your shots and make sure that you'll drive only if you are sober. Prioritize your safety or you will never be able to drink booze with your friends again--you choose!

4. Avoid over speeding

You're not in the Fast and Furious scene, seriously! Always remember that reckless driving can cause danger to other people's lives and damage to their vehicle or properties. The last thing you want to happen is to end up in the hospital with broken bones, broken car and a long list of damages that you need to pay for, right?

5. Protect your vehicle

Let’s admit it, even if you follow the traffic rules and regulations, and no matter how awesome your skills are when it comes to driving, accidents do happen. These accidents may happen to you anytime. So to protect you, your savings and your car, get a car insurance. Your car insurance will take care of the expenses that you will incur should you get into an accident while on the road. Trust us, it's worth every peso!

Remember that the comprehensive car insurance is different from the CTPL or the Compulsory Third Party Liability which you renew annually and is required by the LTO prior to your car registration.

If you are already doing what’s on the list above, kudos to you! You're awesome! Keep those wheels running!
