How to Stay Cool This Summer

Summer is here! And it’s again time for barbecue, vacation and travels with our family, friends and relatives. But before you do any activities make sure you are geared up for your adventures. Put on sunblock and wear rash guards or hat to protect your skin from the sun. Heat build-up in our body may cause skin irritation or rashes. Drink lots of water throughout the day to keep you hydrated.

Here are some exciting ways to chill and have fun this summer:

Stay active

To keep you active, do some workout in the morning - jog, walk and smell the fresh scent of the flowers.

Meditate to keep a balance mind and spirit.  Inhale, exhale...repeat this 3 times for 20 seconds.

This is the best way to start your day!

Stay hydrated

Water, water, water!  There are also a lot of fruits that you can eat that will help you hydrate like watermelon, melon, turnip, cucumber and berries.  You may also substitute water with coconut water.

Greens and fruits are most recommended than eating burgers because meat adds heat to our body which may cause sluggishness and irritability.

Eat light, feel right!

 Have fun!

Swim, Surf and Parasail
Swimming is a good exercise. Not just kids, even adults are excited to dip in the water during this season.

Go surf! No need to go too far. You can choose from many surfing destinations in the Philippines like La Union or Quezon.

Feel like flying when you go parasailing.  This kiting activity consists of a person being towed behind a boat, while attached to a parachute.

Try snorkeling and boating, too!

Picnic in the Park

Plan a family weekend in the park.  Pack some snacks, fruits, and sandwiches.  Kids may also skateboard, rollerblade or fly a kite or a frizbee with their cousins or friends.  Playing board games is a good option as well.

Do some storytelling to your children because it develops the kids’ imagination and teaches them many new things.

It is a priceless moment and a good bonding for the family!

Camping

If you are looking for a different kind of family adventure or you just want to get away from distractions and be one with nature, go

camping! There are many campsites in Batangas, Zambales and Quezon that are only a few hours drive away from Manila.

When camping, research about the place first or ask some of your friends who have gone to that place you’re eyeing, make a checklist of what you need to bring like tent, food, canned goods, flashlights, anti-mosquito lotion, jackets, socks and most importantly, water.

It’s a unique experience that your kids will surely love!
